The executive director of Liga Centralização finds a “very positive market result” in the audiovisual Portuguese in the sale of routes from Benfica from the sports seasons 2026/27 and 2027/28 in NOS for 104.6 million euros.
“It is a very positive sign in the market and in line with our expectations of a centralized market,” answered André Mosqueira do Amaral, responsible for the company dedicated to the subject Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional (LPFP), declared by the Lusa agency.
The executive director of the LPFP and responsible for the Liga Centralização, which includes representatives of Alverca, FC Porto, Sporting de Braga, Sporting, Vitória de Guimarães, Feirense, Leixões and Marítimo, distinguishes the business of “incarnates” who are not dedicated to football games and expands them to other uses of the public.
“The business in its essence, as it is public, is not directly equivalent, then go to what audiovisual directions consider centralization. However, this operation reflects the dynamics of market growth, which is similar – whether it is an individual or collective sale -, I estimate how much I am favored, not so much the value undermined by the competitive tension that I had,” said André Mosqueira to Amaral.
The audio-visual directorates of the two professional Portuguese football players will be negotiated centrally, starting from 2028/29, following the model announced in March 2021, resulting from the memorandum of agreement concluded on 19 January of the same year. Federação Portuguesa de Futebol and LPFP.
Mosqueira do Amaral reiterated that the values that Benfica has been chasing since 50 EC at that time “indicate that the direction of the brand from the market of audiovisual directions for Portuguese football is positive”.
“We are afraid of a perspective that shows the potential for the growth of audiovisual directions in Portugal. It strengthens our expectations in a centralized context, then the performance of the individual we increase the other benefits of joint sales”, he refers.
Responsibility sublinhou that “this business is not won só um”.
“Let’s tell all the sports clubs, then we’re sure the same thing will happen to us once we’re able to sell our own directions by 2028,” said Sublinghou.
In response to this process, Mosqueira do Amaral stated that the Liga Centralização is going to close the regulatory component with the collaboration between the Competition Authority (AdC) and the FPF, ensuring that the following steps are carried out according to the foreseen schedule and the various competition procedures in it, which the centralization rejects.
Benfica was one of the two clubs integral to the management of the Liga Centralização, a company dedicated to the process, which was suspended until 9 July 2025, when a card sent to LPFP president Reinaldo Teixeira concreted some of the positions taken by the Luís Godinho Cup emblem in the final overtime of the referee in the order of Sport, followed by a losing decision in the final. 3-1, May 25 last year.
