A bomber of the Portuguese army is going to reinforce the NATO wing “for the next rotation to Slovakia”, announced this branch of the army forces.
This information was announced on the second day, January 26, at the Santa Margarida Military Camp, in the United States, during the National Standing Out of the 4th National Detachment Force ceremony, which will incorporate the Battlegroup Multinacional Eslováquia within the operations of the extended Vigilance Activities from Atlantica.
The ceremony was presided over by the Chief of Staff of the Army, General Eduardo Mendes Ferrão, who addressed the mission in the current geopolitical and European security context, specifically referring to the war in Ukraine. It is true that since the beginning of the conflict in front of the NATO front there is a multinational reinforcement that counts on Portugal “from the first day”, significant or responsible, quoted in the army communique.
General Mendes Ferrão noted during his speech the evolution of the national contribution, which has gone from a group of tanks fighting to a subgroup, knowing that the next rotation will count as “higher efficiency than ever before, a group of attackers”. The Portuguese contribution, according to the military, aims to strengthen the deterrence and defense capability and readiness of the Alliance with forces on the ground.
