Prepare for black ice in New York until Thursday

The National Weather Service issued a black ice advisory at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday until 12:15 a.m. Thursday for South Herkimer, Southern Fulton, Western Schenectady, Eastern Schenectady, Southern Saratoga, Western Albany, Eastern Albany, Western Rensselaer and Eastern Rensselaer, as well as Montgomery and Schoharie.

“With surface temperatures near freezing, any residual moisture on untreated surfaces can cause patchy formation of black ice. Use caution when walking or driving tonight. Be prepared for possible icing on roadways, sidewalks, steps, driveways or any other untreated surfaces,” the weather service explains.
