No. 6 seed Ole Miss defeated No. 3 Georgia in the CFP quarterfinals.

Sorry if you missed this game, because it will definitely be talked about for years to come, especially if Ole Miss can go on to win a national championship.

With a minute left in the game, Trinidad Chambliss found De’Jaun Stribling 40 yards out and Lucas Carneiro completed a 47-yard field goal. Yes, after a safety on the next play, the final score was 39-34, which was welcomed by many of the refs and extended the ball game.

However, this game was intense from start to finish. Georgia led 21-12 before losing 34-24 with 10 minutes to play before scoring a last-second field goal with a minute left in the game. Pete Golding and Ole Miss made their first CFP semifinal, so we did a lot of fake punts, deep balls, fumble-sixes, huge tackles, and diving.

Chambliss threw for 362 yards and two touchdowns in his career, and honestly, that stat line doesn’t explain how impressive he was. The DII pass rush ran all over the backfield and miraculously eluded a Georgia defense that was under constant pressure. He didn’t get a sack, though. Credit must go to his teammate, Gunner Stockton, who took every big shot he made, the biggest hits of the postseason, but wanted to get the Bulldogs back into the game with their legs and arms.

Then Carneiro, the Rebels kicker, drilled 54 and 55 yarders with ease and hit the winner effortlessly. Let’s talk about Ole Miss’ next game against Miami and the assets that could return to the national championship.

If you haven’t already, find the highlights of the match or watch the match again, because we promise this match will not disappoint, even if you know the result.

However, with all the turmoil this team has faced between the regular season and the College Football Playoff, the Rebels are still two wins away from the pinnacle of college football. Happy New Year, and don’t worry, we’ll be live blogging for the CFP semifinals, so stay tuned to NCAA.com for the Fiesta Bowl and Peach Bowl next Thursday and Friday.
