The National Weather Service issued a weather warning at 2:26 a.m. Thursday for ice until 9 a.m. for northern Westchester, northwest Suffolk, northeast Suffolk, southwest Suffolk and southeast Suffolk, as well as Putnam County.
“With surface temperatures falling around or just below freezing, high relative humidity and light winds, black ice may form overnight into this morning. Be prepared for a possible thin layer of ice on unpaved roads, sidewalks, steps and driveways,” the weather service said.
