Arizona wins the 2025 Men’s Ice Breaker

Arizona State’s power play EXPLODES for five goals in a 5-2 win over Fairbanks, Alaska for the 2025 Men’s Icebreaker Championship.

Entering the game, the Sun Devils’ power play was just 2-for-17 to start the season and went 1-for-6 against Notre Dame on Friday night. But they figured it out tonight, scoring all five of their nine tries to secure the title win over Fairbanks, Alaska.

Cruz Lucius shined for Arizona State in the third quarter, scoring a hat trick with just over 5 minutes to play to give ASU a cushion as time expired.

Connor Hasley had 34 tackles for ASU in his first win as a Sun Devil. ASU led in shots, 40-36, in what was mostly a tough defensive battle. But the wheels fell off late for Alaska, and the Sun Devils pulled away late in the third period, making it impossible to overcome.

Arizona won its first-ever Ice Breaker Championship, while Alaska walked away from the weekend with a top-10 finish against No. 8 Quinnipiac on Friday night. Alaska’s G Lassi Lehti was impressive all weekend, posting 67 saves on 73 shots and a .918 SV% in two games.
