The USA, who arrived in WA as the defending champions, endured a tough start to reach the final, opening the tournament with a 2-1 win over Argentina.
Sebastian Baez put in a brilliant opening match for the South American side, defeating American Taylor Fritz in three sets in one of the first openers of the match.
The result meant Coco Gauff needed to win both of her singles matches against Solana Sierra, which she did in straight sets and in just 57 minutes, before teaming up with Christian Harrison in the mixed doubles against María Lourdes Carlé and Guido Andreozzi after Fritz withdrew late on.
A 6-4, 6-1 victory over Argentina was enough to send the American team into the next round, where they faced Spain and advanced to the quarterfinals.

This time it was Gauff who faltered as he lost to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in three sets, while Fritz leveled his side with a win over Jaume Munar.
The deciding factor was again the mixed doubles, where the American duo of Gauff and Harrison managed to seal their way to the final with a two-set victory over Argentina.
Their opponents in the first of today’s quarter-finals, Greece, won their opening tie of the tournament by beating Japan 3-0, with Maria Sakkari setting the tone with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Naomi Osaka.
