1. CJ Kirst, Cornell (247 goals, 2022-2025)
Kirst broke the streak on April 26, 2025 against Dartmouth. He scored two field goals in the first minute of the game in Cornell’s 10-8 win over Dartmouth, breaking the record.
Kirst was a car when he first wore the red and white for Cornell. After the 2021 season was canceled, the 6-foot-2 forward scored 55 goals and earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors in his first true season as a sophomore. He finished his final season with the Big Red by bringing Ithaca back to its first title in 48 years and extending his career record of 82 goals, including six in the title game.
His lowest mark in a season was 45 goals in 2024, still more than three goals per game.
2. Peyton Cormier, Virginia (224 goals, 2020-2024)
Cormier broke the fashion record in 2024 by scoring eight goals in the Cavaliers’ first-round NCAA Tournament game to set a DI career high, a program NCAA Tournament game high and a Virginia single-season scoring record. He finished his final season with 65 goals and led Virginia to the No. 6 national semifinals by defeating No. 3 seed Johns Hopkins.
3. Mack O’Keefe, Penn State (221 goals, 2017-2021)
O’Keefe’s junior season was one of the most productive offensive seasons in DI men’s lacrosse history. He scored 78 goals while leading the Nittany Lions to their best season in program history. Penn State earned its first No. 1 seed of 2019 and advanced to the national semifinals with a 21-17 loss against Yale.
His 78 are the third-most goals in a season all-time and tied for the two most scoring seasons by a forward in program history, with 51 combined as a freshman.
T-4. Justin Guterding, Duke (212 goals, 2015-2018)
Guterding passed Blue Devil Zach Greer’s career high in 2018. The forward scored 66 goals in his junior year and led Duke to the national championship against Yale. His 113 points scored that season ranks 11th all-time.
At that time, Guterding became only the second player to surpass 200 career goals. Since 2018, nine more people have made the list, but he’s still in the top five.
T-4. Dyson Williams, Duke (212 goals, 2020-2024)
Williams tied the streak with his former Blue Devils last season after scoring back-to-back 60-plus goals in 2023 and 2024. The 6-foot-2 forward never averaged double-digit assists in a season, but he knew how to find the back of the net. He scored in 74 of his 78 appearances for Durham and scored 44 hat-tricks.
Williams led Duke to the 2023 national championship before losing to Notre Dame 13-9 in the title game.
Top 20 career goals leader
Duke leads the list with the top 20 guys. Although the DI program disbanded in 1982, NC State’s Stan Cockerton is 17th and the all-time leader in goals per game at 4.39.
