The House planned to vote Trump out on two fronts

The House of Representatives is preparing to vote on two vetoes from President Donald Trump.

House Republican Speakers are on board, according to Axios. Both votes are expected to pass with bipartisan support.

Overriding the veto requires a two-thirds majority in both the House and Senate.

Although expected to pass the House, it is unclear whether the rewrites will clear the Senate, according to Politico.

Both proposals originally passed in December, but Trump vetoed them.

One would provide drinking water to communities in southeastern Colorado, according to Axios. Trump said it would force federal taxpayers to support the “massive” cost of the local water project.

“Enough is enough,” he said.

The second bill would expand the Miccosukee Tribe’s reserved area in the US Florida Everglades. The tribe has been at odds with the Trump administration over plans to build an immigration detention center in the Everglades, Axios reports.

In the veto message, Trump said the tribe was hindering his immigration policy. He also said the bill benefits “special interests.”

Axios noted that it is unusual for Republicans in Congress to openly defy Trump.

Leaders expect some Republicans who supported the legislation to eventually vote in line with Trump’s wishes, Politico reports.

The two-thirds threshold for an overriding presidential veto is rarely met, according to Axios.
