The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory at 12:11 PM Tuesday for Eastern Schenectady, Eastern Albany, Western Rensselaer, Eastern Rensselaer, Eastern Greene, Western Columbia, Eastern Columbia, Eastern Ulster, Western Dutchess and Eastern Dutchess from 4:00 PM until 4:00 AM Wednesday.

“Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulation up to one-tenth of an inch,” the weather service says. “A period of light freezing rain is expected late Tuesday before changing to normal rain Tuesday evening.”

“Plan on slippery roads,” the weather service explains. “Slow down and use caution when traveling. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution when driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces can be icy and slippery, increasing the risk of falls and injuries.”
