Company News: Oswego Health Promoted by Nicole Lewis, Cheryl Stilwell


Hello Oswego announces two recent promotions.

Nicole Lewis he is now the director of the medical surgical unit. Lewis joined Oswego Health in 2018 as a registered nurse after earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing Utica College. She received her New York State Registered Nurse license in July 2018 and began her nursing career on a medical surgical unit. In addition to her nursing education, Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree in education Syracuse University.

Over the years, Lewis has moved through several key roles on the unit, including an admission/discharge RN in December 2020 and a senior RN in September 2021. In November 2022, she transitioned into a clinical practice advisor role. She was promoted to Medical Surgical Assistant Manager in May 2023.

In his new role, Lewis will oversee clinical operations, staff development and patient care delivery across the department.

Cheryl Stilwell was promoted to executive director of nursing. Stilwell began her career at Oswego Health in 2008 when she joined the organization as clinical manager of the medical surgical unit, a role she held until 2013 when she was promoted to unit director. Stilwell served in that role for more than 12 years until her recent promotion to executive director of nursing.

In his new role, Stilwell will oversee the planning, organization and management of nursing services throughout the hospital. He will lead nursing department operations, professional development initiatives, training programs and shared governance processes that support patient care.

Stilwell graduated Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1995. In 1996, she was licensed as a registered nurse in New York State. Prior to joining Oswego Health, she spent more than five years at AL Lee Memorial Hospitalin Fulton, where from 2002 to 2008 she worked as assistant head nurse on the surgical unit and in 2008 as head of the inpatient department.

Stilwell is also an active member of the New York Organization for Nursing Leadership.
