PJ Harvey announces new album after two years of touring

The acclaimed ’90s rocker has announced two new projects after wrapping up a two-year tour.

PJ Harvey said Wednesday that she is working on a new album and a new book. She also shared a list of songs she found “inspiring and empowering” in 2025.

“In 2025, the ‘I Inside the Old Year Dying’ tour wrapped up in Australia and Japan in March. The two-year tour was such an amazing experience to be a part of, and I thoroughly enjoyed bringing the music to life in a shared experience,” Harvey wrote in a New Year’s post on Instagram.

“Since then I’ve been writing songs for my next album and poems for my next book, a process that always surprises and challenges me, but I realize I’m committed and I love it,” she added. “I wish you a happy and peaceful year ahead and thank you for your support.”

Harvey hasn’t shared any other details about her next album or book, but eclectic playlist Songs currently inspiring her include artists such as Tim Hecker, Laura Cannell, Jed Kurzel, Julia Wolfe, Nils Fahm, Clarissa Connelly and Robbie Basho.

Polly Jean Harvey, 56, is an English singer and songwriter known for her mix of alternative rock, indie, punk, grunge, folk and avant-garde. The eight-time Grammy-nominated Grammy Award winner’s hits include ’90s favorites “Down by the Water,” “A Perfect Day Elise” and “The Wind,” plus 2000’s “This is Love” and collaborations with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke (“This Mess We’re In”), Tricky (“Broken Homes”) and Nick Lee (“Henry Cavee (“”)).

Harvey most recently released “I Inside the Old Year Dying” in 2023 and composed the score for the 2022 Apple TV+ series “Bad Sisters”. Her works also include songs in “Peaky Blinders” and British stage productions of “London Tide”, “Hamlet” and “Othello”; sculptures and paintings featured in art galleries in magazines; and several books of poetry.

She recently finished a two-year tour that included concerts in Europe and the US, and even contributed to a benefit album for the victims of last year’s wildfires in Los Angeles. No 2026 tour dates have been announced.
