Mercyhurst University jumped out to a 25-9 lead after the first quarter to defeat Le Moyne College 89-72 on Sunday in Le Moyne.
Le Moyne fell to 1-1 in the NEC, 3-12 overall. It was Mercyhurst’s first win of the season as the Lakers went 1-1 and 1-12.
Senior guard Sierra Linnin led Le Moyne with 21 points and added six rebounds, two steals and a block. Junior forward Ashley Buragas had 18 points and 10 rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Five different Lakers scored in double figures in their first win of the season, led by Sofia Wilson’s 19.
Le Moyne takes New Haven on the road Thursday.
