Dear Abby: I left my best self at work; now i’m caught in my own ‘trap of delusion’

DEAR ABBY: Co-worker “Erin” has been allowed to work from home since the COVID-19 pandemic while the rest of us have returned to the office. We work side by side like a small family. We have no drama, no office politics and an overall great atmosphere. Erin’s absence caused tension in our team and fueled resentment. Many feel that this is unfair, although these sentiments were not shared by Erin.

What happened was that Erin took a new job and didn’t tell our boss because she was worried about how the boss would react. When I found out, I told the boss, even though Erin told me not to. So now I’m caught in my own little trap of delusion. advise? — New Mexico’s Tangled Web

DEAR INCLUDED WEBE: I’m sorry you didn’t mention the benefits structure at your company. Erin took the QT job while still on your boss’s payroll. In the state I live in (California) that would be grounds to fire her. I don’t consider educating your boss about what Erin did to be cheating. I think what you did was the right thing and loyal to the company.
