A Liverpool man dies after being hit by a snowmobile driven by his son


Worth, NY – A snowmobiler from Liverpool died on New Year’s Day in Jefferson County when he was hit by a snowmobile operated by his son.

The man who died was Joseph R. DiDomenico, 55.

Around 12:57 p.m., DiDomenico and his 16-year-old son were driving at Intersection 306, a trailhead near Waite Road in Worth, according to state police spokeswoman Jennifer Jiron.

DiDomenico stopped and got off the snowmobile. His son went over a hill and was unable to stop before hitting DiDomenico, troopers said.

DiDomenico was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, where he was pronounced dead.

A lifelong resident of Central New York, DiDomenico graduated from Liverpool High School, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He was the founder and CEO of American Limousine Inc. of Central New York, which he founded in 1988 with the help of his parents, according to the company’s website.

By Friday morning, more than 50 people had commented on DiDomenico’s social media posts, offering condolences and sharing memories of him.

“You were a good person, always trying to improve while helping those around you,” his cousin Nicole DiDomenico wrote on Facebook. “You did the right thing. Your example has inspired many and will continue to do so.”

Another friend wrote: “Father, husband, brother and friend gone too soon. Rest in peace Joey D. Thank you for everything.”
