Pink hospitalized on New Year’s Eve: “Rock ‘n’ roll is a contact sport”

The singer reassures fans that she is fine after spending New Year’s Eve in hospital.

Pink, the Grammy-winning pop star behind songs like “So What” and “Raise Your Glass,” shared a photo of herself Wednesday after being hospitalized for a medical procedure. She said she had two discs in her neck replaced.

“I’m ending the year by worshiping, paying attention and fixing my body. It may not be a fancy face lift, but I’m getting two new shiny discs in my neck,” Pink wrote on Instagram. “A new scar, a new reminder that I value this ship I have and use it at all costs. Rock ‘n’ roll is a contact sport.”

The 46-year-old singer, born Alecia Beth Moore, who goes by the name P!nk, did not specify what caused her injury. However, her acrobatics and energetic performances at concerts, such as a sold-out show in 2024 at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, are clearly physically demanding.

“I want to wish everyone a happy new year. I’m so happy to say goodbye to the year of the snake and welcome in the horse. I leave all the pain behind in 2025,” she continued. “This year has been boring for all of us and has run the gamut from downright devastating to mildly annoying. There’s been so much beauty in between.”

Pink said some of her favorite moments from 2025 involved spending time with her family, including daughter Willow Sage and son Jameson Moon. She added that she plans to “choose joy” in 2026 and offered a message of support to her fans.

“I know 2026 will be better because that’s the choice I made. I hope and pray that every person can make that wish, have that choice. I know that’s not reality for some,” Pink wrote. “This year I will work to help preserve the choices others make for themselves and their families, and that very pursuit of happiness. Let’s do better for ourselves and for others.”

This year will be the 25th anniversary of Pink’s 2001 album, “Mizzundazstood,” which featured hits like “Get the Party Started,” “Just Like a Pill” and “Don’t Let Me Get Me.” She is also known for her mix of pop, rock, R&B and dance music in songs such as “Just Give Me a Reason” (feat. Nate Ruess), “What About Us”, “Who Knew”, “Trustfall”, “Stupid Girls”, “Try” and “Lady Marmalade” (with Christina Aguilera, Mya and Lil Kimlid, collaborations with artists such as Khaminny Kenyd and collaborations with Eminy Keny City and Color’s Dallas Green (as folk duo You + Me).

Pink, a former gymnast, has built a huge following for her acclaimed performances with aerial stunts (including singing upside down), trampolines, dance numbers and bright visual effects on stage. Her upcoming tour includes two concerts in Mexico in April.

“There’s no other artist that does (what she does),” Pink’s manager, Syracuse native Nick Cua, told syracuse.com | Post-Standard. “It’s an amazingly fun show and full of energy. You’ll see some of the things he does in his flying routine, singing upside down, flying all over the place… No one compares to that.”
