For the first time in nearly two decades, teen clothing retailer PacSun is expanding its physical footprint.
After 18 years without opening new locations (2007 was the last time PacSun had a grand opening), the California-based brand, which is often found in malls, is opening nine new stores in the U.S. in 2025. Two of them were in New York State, one in Westchester and the other in New York.
And in December 2025, the brand announced plans to open 20 to 35 stores over the next three years.
While almost all of these upcoming locations will be located in the US, one upcoming store that will open this spring will be located in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. This will be PacSun’s first international location.
PacSun, which stands for Pacific Sunwear of California, announced that it has seen a “revival in brick-and-mortar performance with double-digit growth in store traffic” in the United States, leading to recent business expansion.
“Our stores have become cultural touchpoints for a generation that values experience as much as product. What starts on our social channels — inspiration and community — eventually drives young people to see it in person. Doubling down on brick-and-mortar stores simply reflects what our community is already telling us,” said Brieane Olson, CEO of PacSun in press release.
PacSun also noted that it already has nine leases through 2026, but did not say where those new locations would be.
Founded in 1980 in Newport Beach, California, by Jack Hopkins and Tom Moore, PacSun started as a small surf shop that grew into a major youth lifestyle brand.
The store sells lifestyle clothing, swimwear, footwear and accessories designed for teens and young adults. In 2025, the company operated 325 stores in 46 states and Puerto Rico.
