Parish, NY – A tractor-trailer was engulfed in flames early Sunday morning after its driver stopped while traveling on Interstate 81 in central New York.
Oussama Jaziri, 40, of Canada, was driving a 2016 Kenworth tractor south on I-81 through the town of Parish around 4:46 a.m. when he heard a loud noise coming from the vehicle, according to state police spokeswoman Trooper Jennifer Jiron.
Jaziri pulled over on the right shoulder to check where the sound was coming from when he saw the axle on the trailer glowing red, she said.
Soon after, a fire broke out and the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.
The trailer was coming from Quebec carrying frozen vegetables, she said. No injuries were reported.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Parish Volunteer Fire Department, Mexico Volunteer Fire Department, Central Square Fire Department and Hastings Fire Department.
