Update: Be prepared for heavy snow in New York on Friday night

The National Weather Service issued an updated weather advisory at 6:46 p.m. Friday for heavy snow until 9 p.m. for Western Greene, Eastern Greene, Western Columbia, Eastern Columbia, Western Ulster, Eastern Ulster, Western Dutchess and Eastern Dutchess.

“Bands of heavy snow will continue to move through much of the Mid Hundson Valley this evening, reducing visibility to less than a quarter mile at times with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Be prepared for difficult travel due to heavy snowfall, low visibility and snowy roads. Travel is not recommended tonight. If travel is necessary, slow down and wait until you reach your destination,” the weather service explained.
