Syracuse.com boys hockey rankings (through Week 3): New No. 1 after state champs dethroned

The Rome Free Academy boys hockey team moved up to No. 1 in the latest syracuse.com rankings after defeating three-time defending state champion Skaneateles New Hartford last week. Mark DiOrio | Contributing photo

Syracuse, NY – Three-time defending champion Skaneateles suffered its first loss in 26 games last week and is now the new No. 1 boys hockey team in the syracuse.com weekly rankings.

That team, Rome Free Academy, is one of the last two undefeated teams in Section III. Baldwinsville is the second team at 3-0-2.

New Hartford moved up three spots after handing Skaneateles its first loss since Dec. 4, 2024.

Syracuse.com will post the boys rankings every Wednesday until the end of the season.
