Considering the amount of snow Western New York gets each year, Buffalo Bills right tackle Spencer Brown might have gotten the best gift of the Christmas season.
On Tuesday, Brown and the Bills’ offensive line participated in a gift exchange at the White Elephant after practice. While exchanging gifts, Brown left with a flamethrower.
When asked about the gifts he received this year, Brown wasted no time sharing his excitement about the new toy.
“I got a flamethrower today,” Brown said with a smile. “That was pretty cool. Vandy (Ryan Van Demark) put it together with the o-line Christmas.”
Brown made sure to let members of the Bills media know that the item itself was legal in New York.
“It’s legal, so everybody relax,” Brown added. “I don’t know if I’ll ever use it, but it’s great if I need it.”
Brown explained that sophomore offensive lineman Tylan Grable initially opened the flamethrower, but said he used one of his steals on the item. And before anyone asks, no one on the offensive line asked for a flamethrower.
“No, it was just a White Elephant,” Brown said. “Just open the box and what do you get?”
Brown could have stolen the item from him, but no one chose to do so. According to Brown, it’s probably because the offensive line is pretty cordial with each other.
“It wasn’t stolen again,” Brown said. “It’s actually a very cordial gift exchange that isn’t fun.”
Brown managed to get the gift he wanted at the gift exchange at the White Elephant, but the item could also have a downside.
If Bills players get snowed out in the next few weeks, teammates will know who to call to help clear the way. Then again, based on the excitement in Brown’s voice, Buffalo’s star right tackle is probably just eager for an opportunity to use his new gift as soon as possible.
