North Syracuse, NY – Eight teenagers in stolen vehicles went on a north suburban robbery spree early Tuesday, smashing through front doors and stealing cash registers, deputies say.
The burglary happened around 2:30 a.m. at Clay and Salina, according to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.
North Syracuse deputies and police found these businesses with broken doors and windows and some with cash registers or stolen money:
- Big Mama’s Cheesecake, 500 Old Liverpool Road
- Amore Pizza, 659 Old Liverpool Road
- Namaste India Groceries, 688 Old Liverpool Road
- NU Nails & Spa, 628 S Main St., North Syracuse
- Peter’s Discount Liquors, 628 N Main St., North Syracuse
- China Wok Chinese Restaurant, 628 N Main St.
- Tiara Nails & Spa, 111 Lawrence Road, North Syracuse
- Subway, 127 Lawrence Road, North Syracuse
- Paladino’s Pizza, 221 Northern Lights Plaza, North Syracuse
Deputies said eight teenagers between the ages of 15 and 17 used three stolen vehicles to drive between businesses for the burglary. The vehicles were stolen from the city of Syracuse in recent days, deputies said.
Two of the three vehicles were saved. Deputies also recovered two handguns.
All eight juveniles were arrested Tuesday and charged with third- and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, along with criminal possession of a firearm. Two of the teenagers were also charged with third-degree burglary, deputies said.
More charges are pending as deputies continue to receive reports of additional burglaries that have just been uncovered by business owners.
Deputies believe the teenagers are also suspects in other recent burglaries in the city of Syracuse and surrounding Onondaga County, deputies said. Additional charges may apply.
