At 1:19 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from 1:00 p.m. Friday until 10:00 a.m. Saturday for Steuben, Schuyler and Chemung counties.
The weather service says, “Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow and sleet accumulation between 4 and 8 inches and ice accumulation around one-tenth of an inch possible.”
“Travel may be very difficult. Hazardous conditions could affect the Friday evening commute,” the weather service said. “Watch the latest forecast for updates on this situation.”
